NATIONALITY/CITIZENSHIP

(i) A candidate must be either:

  1. a citizen of India, or
  2. a subject of Nepal, or
  3. a subject of Bhutan, or
  4. a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of settling permanently in India, or a person of Indian origin who emigrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, countries of East Africa from Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of settling permanently in India.

To note:

  • Provided that an applicant belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above is a person in favor of whom a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
  • A candidate for whom a certificate of eligibility is required may be admitted for the examination, but the offer of appointment can only be made after the necessary certificate of eligibility has been issued to him by the Government of India .

Exam candidates must ensure that they meet all exam eligibility requirements. Their admission to all stages of the examination will be purely provisional, provided that they meet the prescribed admission requirements. If, after verification, at any time before or after the online exam, it is found that they do not meet any of the eligibility requirements, their application for the exam will be canceled by the Commission.
